About this app

Signal is a messaging app with privacy at its core. It is free and easy to use, with strong end-to-end encryption that keeps your communication completely private.

• Send texts, voice messages, photos, videos, GIFs, and files for free. Signal uses your phone’s data connection, so you avoid SMS and MMS fees.

• Call your friends with crystal-clear encrypted voice and video calls. Group calls supported for up to 40 people.

• Stay connected with group chats up to 1,000 people. Control who can post and manage group members with admin permission settings.

• Share image, text, and video Stories that disappear after 24 hours. Privacy settings keep you in charge of exactly who can see each Story.

• Signal is built for your privacy. We know nothing about you or who you’re talking to. Our open source Signal Protocol means that we can’t read your messages or listen to your calls. Neither can anyone else. No back doors, no data collection, no compromises.

• Signal is independent and not for profit; a different kind of tech from a different kind of organization. As a 501c3 nonprofit we are supported by your donations, not by advertisers or investors.

nice and secure basic chat app. has a few weird things that you wont encounter often, but are annoying when you do. you have to give someone your phone number for them to message you. transfering accounts between devices usually doesnt work and i have to restore from a backup on yhe new device. for some reason, its impossible to log into multiple android devices with the same account, but its not an issue with the desktop version.

I love using this App and that's why I'm giving it this 3-star review with a hope of improvement. Pls fix the camera recording within Signal (Samsung, Android 14) to standard lens or give us an option to select. It defaults to wide angle and is unusable in 90% of cases. Llistening to recorded audio is sometimes super buggy esp. when switching to other chats. It would also help to remember where I left for longer tracks. Lastly, why can't I filter between pics/vids/gifs in media search?

Signal is feature rich and easy to use, the transition from native SMS apps to Signal is simple and straightforward. We've had a few friends join us on the app and have never had to offer any help with install of getting started. Signal's ratings with sites like Kaspersky, among other security sites, gives us confidence in the apps ability to keep our private messages private. The send later feature keeps me from bothering my sister at 2 am.

What's new

★ Now you can react with any emoji during a Signal call. Smile even if your camera is off, share a heart if you love what you're hearing, or vote for sushi instead of pizza without saying a word. And you'll even see an animation of everyone's emojional outburst if enough people in the call react with the same emoji all at once.
★ We also added a shortcut to edit sent messages by double tapping on the message bubble. Double taps aren't just for likes, unless you really like editing typos.
