Some good news to start the week! 🏆   We are ecstatic to announce our Brand Scotland campaign has been awarded Gold at the Native Advertising Awards 2024 for Best Series of Sponsored Videos! 🥇 📽 "Scotland. For the Head, Heart and the Spirit" is a series of four light-hearted, witty and beautifully shot short films exploring the essence of modern Scotland. The series captures the spirit of Scottish adventure, music, food and business, and transforming Scotland from being just somewhere to visit, to a country that is dynamic, fair and inclusive place to live, work and play.   Thank you to the team at Brand Scotland and Carat UK for trusting us with their stories, special thanks to Samantha Crawford, Kim Wallace, Paige Brown and Alison Black.   Finally, we extend our gratitude to every team member who contributed to this project with a special shout-out to Ruth Holland, Alex Beard, Lizzy Heuchan, Naomi Taylor, Caroline Boccarosse, Rachel Ediss and Alessio Nesi (He/Him).   Find the award winning series here: https://lnkd.in/eiEpaW7B   #NativeAdvertisingAwards2024 #BestSeriesOfSponsoredVideos

Meet Giles Dean, our global account director here at BBC StoryWorks!   We sat down with Giles in anticipation of London Tech Week where he will be discussing the transformative potential of storytelling in tech!   Swipe to see what he loves most about working in the world of branded content and the advice he has for any newcomers. Read below for the full interview. ⬇️   👋 Could you tell us a little bit about your time at BBC StoryWorks?   During my time in the BBC StoryWorks Programme Partnerships team, I've led on branded documentary-style series covering a wide array of subjects, from sustainable architecture to the role of medical technology in supporting healthcare systems. Within the team, I've developed a specialisation in health tech, and I am captivated by the individuals propelling these innovations forward. I'm particularly passionate about forging connections with founders brimming with boundless enthusiasm for their technology.    🎥 What are your thoughts on the industry of branded content?   Branded content is a captivating corner of the filmmaking world as it allows us to connect with different audiences. Whether it's concise social media edits or expansive feature-length documentaries, our capabilities span the full spectrum. However, what truly matters to me is the narrative and the audience we are aiming to engage with.   I'm thrilled about a film we’ve produced for Airbnb.org which showcases how hosts have generously opened their homes to those displaced by the earthquakes in Turkey. It's a poignant narrative showcasing how technology addresses a deeply human subject.   🏆 What is your favourite bit of content that you’ve worked on?   In our ‘Spaces That Shape Us’ series, presented by World Green Building Council, we recently delved into the realm of 360° digital immersive experiences. This piece spotlights the remarkable efforts of the California Academy of Sciences, showcasing their creation of a space that not only champions environmental sustainability but also fosters learning and facilitates the transmission of knowledge to future generations.   👨💻 How are you feeling about the upcoming London Tech Week?    I'm thrilled to be presenting at London Tech Week! I’ll be discussing the transformative potential of storytelling for start-ups and tech brands on June 11th. Additionally, I'll be offering a sneak peek into the new Consumer Technology Association series we have produced, 'The Human Component.’   📝 Do you have any advice for newcomers?   To newcomers, I offer this advice: chase after opportunities and stories that excite you. The vitality of storytelling hinges on the enthusiasm of those shaping the narrative. By immersing yourself in topics that captivate you, not only will you deepen your understanding, but you'll also remain fully engaged in the creative process. When you're able to achieve this, your work has a higher purpose, and what could be more rewarding than that?
